Welcome!
Carlos M. Camacho is a queer Puerto Rican writer and filmmaker from the Bronx with a PhD in Sociology from the CUNY Graduate Center. In 2026 he began working on his first short film, B-Horror Boys.
His doctoral dissertation "Navigating Ocha: LGBT Practitioners' Participation and Navigation of Lucumí" looked at LGBT people in the Lucumí/Santería religion, bringing together his unique historical and contemporary analysis to this subject. It is this same desire to highlight LGBT people and histories, along with a love of genre cinema, that fuels his screenwriting.
Additionally, I am a podcaster who has co-produces and edits the Horror Agenda and produced and was an editor on Play.Hype.Dialogue.
I have also been a guest on the Bechdel Cast, the Millenial PhD, and the Outerknown among others.
I attended a weekend intensive with Sundance Collab for their Writing Horror for Film and TV program.
